You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
~First two stanzas of Maya Angelou’s "Still I Rise"
I am an extremely political person. I love watching election returns, and hoping against hope that my candidate will come out the victor. I am physically unable, as many are, to be impartial when it comes to such matters.
